Ultrasound during pregnancy

At the current stage of medical development, it is difficult to imagine prenatal care without high-quality dynamic ultrasound diagnostics.

The long-standing experience (over 30 years) of using this diagnostic method in obstetrics has proven its safety for both the mother and the fetus. No special preparation is required for an ultrasound, except during the first trimester of pregnancy (up to 12 weeks), where a well-filled bladder is a necessary condition for the procedure.

WHEN IS ULTRASOUND PERFORMED DURING PREGNANCY?

  • In the first trimester: Ultrasound can evaluate the presence and location of the gestational sac (inside or outside the uterus), its shape, structure, elements, the presence of the embryo, its size, and signs of viability (heartbeat and motor activity).
  • In the second trimester: Ultrasound can visualize individual body parts of the fetus (head, torso, limbs) and perform precise measurements of fetal size. It also allows for an assessment of the heart and its chambers, internal organs, the condition of the placenta, and amniotic fluid levels.
  • In the third trimester: In addition to measuring the fetus, ultrasound can assess the biophysical profile of the fetus, uteroplacental, and fetoplacental blood flow.

Thanks to ultrasound diagnostics at the "Zhyttia" Medical Center, it is possible to perform qualified monitoring of the fetus's condition throughout the pregnancy.
